Dan Yu (harp) 5/10 (Sat ) 8pm
RTHK Studio 2
In Radio 4โ€™s Artist-in-Residence concert in March 2018, we were dazzled by the brilliant performance of Dan Yu, the first Chinese musician to win the Gold Medal of the prestigious USA International Harp Competition. Yu studied with Professor Yue Pingqiu at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, and received further education at the Peabody Conservatory and Indiana University in the United States. When she entered the USA International Harp Competition, she had not expected to win, but she went on to become the first Chinese harpist to win the Gold Medal.
Since settling in Hong Kong in 2008, Yu has been active in the local music scene, appearing as a soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. Yu will return to RTHK to perform in โ€˜Chamber Resonance: Studio 2 Music Salonโ€™ and bring us a programme with great variety in style and character, ranging from the lyrical arrangement to the dazzling compositions by female composers.
